The photos below were sent along to us by Tom Rosenblad from Tonsberg, Norway. The Rosenblads were typical of young families living at Gander Airport in renovated military buildings. Tom was more than happy to find out that "once a Ganderite - always a Ganderite"!

Sign indicating the way to the Airport and American side.
The Rosenblads lived in the remodelled US Post Office building on the corner of Chestnut Road at Roosevelt Street from 1946-1950.
Tom's mom, Berit was a full time wife and mother. She also enjoyed day trips by train to near by towns with her friend Susan.
Tom's father, Leif worked has a radio technician with Scandanavian Airlines.

Tom remembered his "1st car" as being blue, until he found this photo.
European motorcycles such as this BSA , were popular at the airport, although the travel was limited.
Riding on motorcycle with his dad began Tom,s lifelong passion with these wonderful machines.
Tom is a little older in this photo, and judging by the mud splashed on his boots, he had just "soloed" on his dad's Royal Enfield

A neighbor's "Newfoundland" pet, Sandy, was Tom's best friend.
Tom doesn't remember who these friends were, but is interested in finding out!
